StartWire’s March 2014 Job Seeker Confidence Index Reflects Increasing Optimism in Healthcare Jobs

Lebanon, NH (April 28, 2014) – StartWire, America’s #1 job search organizer, today released the March 2014 Job Search Confidence Index, which shows a spike in both job seekers’ overall confidence in finding new employment and a significant jump in confidence for professionals seeking jobs in the healthcare industry.

“Job seeker confidence notably increased in March, but we are seeing the largest spikes in positive outlook from healthcare professionals,” said Chris Forman, CEO of StartWire. “With healthcare demands growing and professionals feeling optimistic about securing employment, all signs point to a stronger healthcare job market.”

The Job Seeker Confidence Index, which has been on a slight upward trajectory in 2014, noticeably increased in March. The index now stands at 53.69, up from 50.95 in February. The index sits on a scale of 0 – 100, with scores greater than 50 indicating a strong belief amongst job seekers that they will find a job within the next 45 days – and a score below 50 indicating the opposite.

Looking specifically at healthcare professionals, the numbers show an even more dramatic +6.03 increase as the index for this sector climbed from 51.28 to 57.31 in March.

“The high March confidence index numbers for healthcare professionals are reflective of continued industry growth, driven by the aging U.S. population and a greater need for qualified healthcare personnel,” added Forman.
