Chalk & Wire Enhances its Assessment Platform with Customizable Tagging Feature and New Commenting Tool

Ridgeway, Ontario – (Feb. 9, 2016) – Chalk & Wire, the most trusted higher education assessment provider, today announced new features to its assessment platform. Enhancements include a first-of-its-kind tagging feature, which delivers advanced analytics to organizations, as well as a customizable assessment commenting tool.

In addition to the current tagging options available in Chalk & Wire’s Experiential Learning Suite, administrators can now create tags associated with individual student learning outcomes and submitted content across the entire assessment platform including rubric criteria for specific outcomes, comments, student work samples and assignment instructions. Through a continuously updated visual report assessors are able to identify and analyze student-learning patterns as they review student work or drill-down into the system to pinpoint certain items. Tag analysis even empowers users to combine tags to see how and where items are related.

“Our new tagging tool is the first use of tagging to analyze the most important elements of a working assessment system. The feature will be expanded to include student tagging this summer,” said Geoff Irvine, CEO, Chalk & Wire. “With tagging, organizations can easily generate another rich layer of assessment analysis across a large group of students. This increases the likelihood that patterns can be identified at a qualitative level.”

Additionally, Chalk & Wire’s enhanced commenting tool, includes new powerful features such as smart-recall and auto-entry of comments for an individual assessor or for assessors across the entire campus. The solution organically collects comments to generate a library based on specific criteria and scoring levels. “After typing just a few words, assessors are shown full comments for selection and entry in one click. This leverages robust feedback with specific correction for students that typically takes much longer to type,” added Irvine.

Also, administrators now have the option to assess students anonymously in the latest Chalk & Wire release, providing another workflow to increase validity and reliability during the assessment process.
