BackOffice Associates Listed as a “Representative Vendor” Again in Gartner Market Guide for Information Stewardship Applications

Information Governance and Data Stewardship Leader Delivers Comprehensive Data Governance Policy Setting and Enforcement Capabilities for Business Users

MCLEAN, Va. – April 19, 2017 – BackOffice Associates, a worldwide leader in information governance and data stewardship solutions, today announced it was included as a representative vendor in Gartner’s Market Guide for Information Stewardship Applications[1] for the second year in a row.

According to Gartner, “The market for information stewardship applications is made up of vendors that include some of the following capabilities in their packaged or planned solutions: information model; data quality monitoring and profiling; business glossary (which would integrate with a data dictionary); analytics on the data, such as model usage and workflow performance; workflow/exception management; business rules and policy management; playbooks or preloaded templates; audit trail/organizational memory; and integration enabled by interoperability with source and consuming systems.”

“As the speed and complexity of business continue to increase with ever-expanding data sources and IT landscapes, it is critical for global organizations to establish comprehensive information governance and stewardship programs,” said David Booth, Chairman and CEO, BackOffice Associates. “We believe our continued inclusion by Gartner reinforces our reputation for delivering solutions that help world-class enterprises empower their business users to both set and enforce data policies—and ultimately deliver results that improve the bottom line.”

According to the report, “Data and analytics governance practices must be enabled by technology that specifically supports its enforcement,” and that “the growth in the market for information stewardship applications is driven by the need to enforce governance in adjacent markets, such as data quality and master data management.”

Additionally, the report authors state that, “in the long term, we expect to see information stewardship applications mature and become more distinct for business rather than IT users. They are also likely to be deployed to drive more effective MDM, application data management and analytic governance (for example, governing data in a data lake, data warehouse or logical data warehouse). Should these solutions mature, it is quite possible that larger, broader integrated solutions will appear sometime later — what we might call ‘information governance platforms’…”

BackOffice Associates’ information governance solutions enable global organizations to comprehensively oversee and orchestrate all governance and stewardship business processes. Designed with the business user in mind, the company’s award-winning Data Stewardship Platform and recently-debuted Information Governance Cloud seamlessly work together to manage cross-application governance initiatives as one end-to-end business process—including designing, analyzing, executing and enforcing all data policies.
